Quercus signs sequel to Spring’s The Ghost Hunters, now a major TV drama

Quercus is delighted to announce the acquisition of a sequel to Neil Spring’s The Ghost Hunters which was recently adapted into a TV drama by ITV. Commissioning Editor Kathryn Taussig secured UK and Commonwealth rights from Cathryn Summerhayes at WME. Quercus will publish the sequel in autumn 2017.

In Neil Spring’s first novel, The Ghost Hunters, Sarah Grey told us that volumes could be written about the time she spent with Harry Price and their many investigations into the unknown. This sequel takes place after Sarah has left Harry’s employment following their first investigation. Set in the most haunted village in England, the story explores the lengths to which an entire community - and one man - will go to protect their darkest secrets.

Neil Spring says: ‘Some characters just won’t let you rest. And like the ghosts he hunts, the legendary Harry Price is one of them. I’m thrilled to be writing another book in the Harry Price: Ghost Hunter series and I can’t wait to see what he and Sarah uncover next in this, the story of Harry’s greatest investigation. And his greatest secret.’

Cathryn Summerhayes says: ‘It has been an amazing few years for Neil and Quercus's passion and support has certainly contributed to that.  We are thrilled to have a new deal with them and especially with Kathryn who has been a wonderful advocate for the novels.'

Kathryn Taussig says: ‘Neil Spring's first novel The Ghost Hunters was the beginning of a memorable partnership between two delectably unique characters – Harry Price and Sarah Grey. Readers have been writing in ever since, desperate to know what happened next…and now they have their wish! Neil Spring's upcoming sequel is just as finely crafted and chilling as its predecessor, with an ending that's guaranteed to make you shiver.’

Neil Spring was born in south Wales in 1981. He started writing at the age of twenty-eight. Between 1999 and 2002 he studied philosophy, politics and economics at Somerville College, Oxford. In 2013 he published The Ghost Hunters, a paranormal thriller based on the life of Harry Price. The Ghost Hunters received outstanding reviews and has been adapted into a major television drama under the title Harry Price: Ghost Hunter for ITV. Neil’s second novel The Watchers was also published by Quercus. Neil is Welsh and lives in London.
